Food System Transformation Solution Bank

Food system transformation will require bold and innovative solutions to be applied in many ways to many parts of the system.

The Food System Transformation Solution Bank (‘Food System TSB’) is a tool to help researchers and changemakers in the public, private and civil sectors find ways to improve food systems.

It is a database of almost 3500 possible food system ‘solutions’ from around 250 different sources, and associated guidance documents. These solutions have been identified from a range of reports, databases, and websites, and have been categorised and tagged to make them searchable.

By drawing on a wide range of databases and reports, and bringing together accumulated knowledge conveniently in one place, the Food System TSB supports a holistic, integrated approach to creating healthier, more sustainable, and fairer food systems.

Some ways the Food System TSB can be used:

  • Use tailored searches to create long-lists of potential solutions, for further exploration/shortlisting/criteria application
  • Compare a solution you are working on with what has been done elsewhere
  • Identify organisations which might support an idea (because they have recommended it)
  • Identify case studies beyond the ‘usual suspects’ (the most well-known examples)
  • Identify solutions being used in other areas of the food system, or for other outcomes, which could be repurposed to make the changes you are interested in
  • To inspire you about all the amazing activity and ideas that exist around food system transformation

Guidance on using the Food System TSB can be found on the User Guide page.
